Absolutely tired and hungry, angry too, hunted for food in the city. (And nothing was told about it at the time of booking).There is kitchen but only till 10 am. The owner informed us after sometime that we have to inform them in advance. After traveling for nearly six-eight hours in the mountains, we expected a good welcome but. We visited there in the last week of April,2012. Monal, by itself is very beautiful, serene in the laps of Uttarkashi but somehow did not suit us.

Not a huge deal, but I do meditate in the mornings so it was a little disruptive. it could be a little loud in the mornings as the staff called out to each other about stuff. One little nitpick (and this is only the type of thing you notice over a whole month of staying somewhere). Uttarkashi is such a special place but the town itself can be hectic, so it was nice to be just a bit outside. I loved hearing the donkeys coming down the path, the cows, the river flowing below. The guest house is exceptionally clean, the yard and flowers are well maintained. And one of the best hot showers I had in all of India! Deepender was quite helpful when we needed it, but never pushy, which we appreciated because we are quite independent travelers. The bookshelves overflowing, the incredible view of the mountains and river when we did yoga on the roofdeck, the big portions of delicious dinners, friendly guests and of course incredible hospitality from Deepender and his wife. From the moment we arrived, I felt at home.
